Last year we had several sweet girls in our 1st grade classes who were in girl scouts together. Each one of us had at least one of the girl scouts in our class. So at the end of the school year we all four got invited to their “Bridging to Brownies” ceremony. We had so much fun as their guests!
So this year now that they’re in 2nd grade we don’t get to see them as much and I get to see them even less. So one of the mothers, Vickie Waller, asked the four of us if we would be interested in helping the girls earn one of their badges this year so that the girls would get a chance to spend some time with us. We LOVED the idea!
So I flipped through the book of badges and decided that the dancing one would be the most fun and the easiest to do.
Today we met after school in the music room at my old school and the four of us led the meeting. Here is a little bit of what we did…
- · Practiced dance moves from the book
- · Each girl made up one move and then we put them all together and made what the girl’s named the “Shake It Brownies” dance and then practiced it with music
- · They worked in partners to come up with dance moves that matched emotions such as happy, sad, scared, nervous, surprised, and confused
- · We played “Follow the Leader” with dance moves and every girl got a chance to be the leader
- · We taught the girls each of our own favorite dance moves
- · We had a super fun dance party at the end with each of the girl’s favorite dance songs
I love these girls so much and LOVE that they let us help them earn one of their badges. I also love that it gave me a chance to see my girls!
So proud of you Brownies!
