Not That Crazy

Months ago my friend Jodi and I planned a surprise trip to Nashville as a birthday present to her husband Andrew.  Sadly, Andrew found out about a month ago…but the trip itself was still a success!

Our core group of friends from church…
Steve and Kathryn Aylor
Andrew and Jodi Crawford
Threes Company…Cobb, Frush, and I

All of us planned a weekend trip to Nashville for New Years.  We’ve been counting down the days since the first of October and at times the anticipation was getting to be unbearable.

These friends are the ones that I do life with.  They are the ones that love me, encourage me, and make me laugh constantly.  I couldn’t wait to get away with them with no kids and just laugh and be together.

Frush drove up earlier in the week to spend the week with his brother.  The rest of us flew out on Thursday evening and met Frush at the Nashville airport later that night.

The weekend was filled with yummy food, laughs, inappropriate comments, laughs, country music, laughs, personality quirks, laughs, good conversations about life changes, and again…laughs!

We decided that this will have to be a yearly tradition for us to take a trip together.  This years theme was “Not That Crazy” which came from an extremely inappropriate comment made by Kathryn.  Next year’s theme will be “Givin’ It Up” which came from a sermon of Steve’s.

All of us have a dream of doing ministry together and planting a church at some point.  So we made a goal that in 3 years when we came together for our annual GW trip that we would all come with places in mind for our first church plant!  We’ll see how well we stick to our goals!

This was one of the best New Year’s experiences I’ve had and it mainly had to do with the people I was with.  I kept saying, “This is the best trip!”  I can’t wait for the 2011 GW trip!
